Before you can trade
Accounts, plans and connectivity
To trade on SumUp, you'll need:
- A SumUp account in your name.
- The free SumUp plan, which covers checkout, catalogue, basic inventory, one printer and a cash drawer.
- Retail Till: a SumUp POS Plus subscription, for barcode scanning.
- Wi-Fi, and mains power for counter tills.
SumUp subscriptions, transaction fees, chargebacks and merchant onboarding are contracted with and paid to SumUp directly.
To trade on Square, you'll need:
- A Square account in your name, with the trading location set.
- The free Square plan, which covers checkout, basic inventory and barcode scanning.
- Wi-Fi, and mains power for counter tills.
Square subscriptions and processing are contracted with and paid to Square directly.
To trade on PayPal POS, you'll need:
- A PayPal Business account in your name, with PayPal POS switched on.
- The free PayPal POS app, which covers checkout, catalogue, inventory and reporting.
- Wi-Fi, and mains power for counter tills.
PayPal processing is contracted with and paid to PayPal directly.
To trade on Shopify POS, you'll need:
- A paid Shopify store in your name, with a UK location and Shopify Payments switched on.
- Optional: a Shopify POS Pro subscription, for staff logins and advanced retail workflows.
- Wi-Fi, and mains power for counter tills.
The Shopify plan, POS Pro and Shopify Payments processing are contracted with and paid to Shopify directly.
